Background fic

There's very little background information given on Holmes or Watson. (I'm guessing ACD couldn't be bothered with the details.)

But I was reading one fic where Holmes makes a comment about when doctors go bad, and it's hinted in the fic that Holmes' father had been a doctor who poisoned a village girl, and at her autopsy it came out the elder Holmes had a reason for killing her.

I've also read "On Afghanistan's Plains" and now I want some more background fic on Holmes and Watson. Child!fic would be preferred, but will take most anything.
