There's the whole bruhaha about how many wives Watson actually had, right? In the books, I mean. And they all died on him... So, I wondered, did anyone write a story where Watson kept getting married and Holmes kept secretly murdering his wives to bring him back to Baker Street? Very dark humor, I know...

Date: 2012-04-01 10:03 pm (UTC)(I remembered the bit about Pissarro's daughter, because I was suffering from a lower respiratory infection that had almost gone pneumatic(sp?), and was on some heavy duty horse-pill sized antibiotics. And here I was sick and watching some special on TV about the Impressionists, and when they mentioned what the daughter had caught...)
William Palmer got away for so long with killing off his kids (and patients) because the rate of death of childhood illness was so high. No one seem to think anything strange of the fact that he would have a new baby, and it would die before it's first birthday.
So it could have been natural causes (illness) or maybe Holmes did do something.... He certainly would have had the know-how.
