Spoilers in Search Request
I don't remember much about this fic, but here it goes:
John is in the flat, and he keeps having reasons not to leave it. It's raining and there's a leak in the roof.
Sherlock comes in (I'm not sure if he was there from the beginning) and talks to John, giving him more reasons to stay in. Until eventually (here's where the spoilers come in) he tells John that he's been dead/in a coma this whole time, drowned in the pool scene, and that's why he can't leave the flat.
Then the water rushes in and John accepts death.
I'm not sure if it was John/Sherlock or a gen fic. Though I am pretty sure it was on AO3.
