Questions on the SH Fandom

I'm a fanfiction writer, but I'm also an academic and I'm giving a paper in November
on the Sherlock Holmes fandom(s).

I'd love to have as much input from participants as possible, from as many

Vamp AU, M/L, S/J, anyone?

I'm usually the one who finds things, so it drives me bonkers that I can't remember where I read that.

It's a Vampire!AU in two parts. Mycroft and Sherlock are vampires, and according to vampire social customs to achieve a certain status they have to find a mate and according to vampire physiology, as soon as they find their Only One, they have to bond with that person within a very short time period or die. Mycroft meets Lestrade, who is his Mate, and freaks him out with what Lestrade considers creepy obsession and stalking behavior. Mycroft has to call Sherlock for help and Sherlock tells Lestrade that if he wants to get rid of Mycroft all he has to do is resist the pull and wait - Mycroft will die and Lestrade can get on with his life. Lestrade makes the right decision. :) In the second part, a disgustingly matrimonially domesticated (from Sherlock's POV) Mycroft and Lestrade have to set things right between Sherlock and John. They (things) are quite complicated because almost all Sherlock's life as a vampire homosexuality was a big no-no and he Has Issues. Sounds familiar to anyone?

Protective Watson

Okay, so, I'm looking for both a specific BBC fic and any recs you might have.

The only thing that I really remember about this specific fic is John becoming fed up with Sally and Anderson's constant sniping and laying into them like the tiny bamf he is on Sherlock's behalf. Cue awkward gratitude and domestic schmoop. If any of you know what fic I'm talking about based on this ridiculously limited information, I'd be very grateful.

Okay, that said, searching for this fic has sort of activated my protective!Watson kink. Where's the good stuff you guys? It doesn't matter what flavor of protective, be it emotionally, physically, or saving Sherlock from himself, I'd like to see Watson protecting Holmes. Pretty please? Any verse will do, but I prefer BBC and canon.
