The Great Game Aftermath
Mar. 5th, 2011 11:17 pmHi All, I'm a die hard holmes fan, who's recently become totally enamored with the new Sherlock bbc series. I'm looking for a story in this category I read a while ago. It was about the aftermath of the Great Game. I remember the story was designed so you couldn't tell who's POV it was depicting. Only one of them made it out of the pool, and you think it's John, because his leg was injured, until you realize at the end it's really Sherlock. It's a heartbreaking story. I thought it was on An Archive of Our Own, but now I can't find it?
That aside, any stories about the aftermath of the Great Game where Sherlock is disabled in some way, they think each other are dead, or any combination of both, would be wonderful!
Cheers, TEsral

Sherlock's POV, starting immediately after the Great Game.
scenarios in which J thinks S is dead and/or S thinks J is dead. Some of these extend past the post-Great Game into a later, separate Reichenbach scenario
The first two stories of a projected 4 story series. "I Carry Your Heart" is written in Sherlock's POV, in John's hospital room after the Great Game. "You All Have Lied" is John's POV, a year later at Sherlock's grave.
Written for the prompt that it wasn't Sherlock who was presumed dead for three years, but John. John's POV of what he was doing all that time. There is also a podfic.
Not immediate post-Great Game, but 5 years further on; the events leading up to Reichenbach. Involves serious relationship issues, including infidelity.
AU with female!John, not immediate post-Great Game but some months further on, dealing with the fallout from Reichenbach.
The middle two stories of a 4 story series. The first of the set, The Refining Fire, supplies the immediate aftermath of the Great Game; these two are John's and Sherlock's POVs after they split up to hunt Moriarty's chief of staff and Moriarty, respectively.
Sherlock's POV (except for the first scene), as he wanders the world.
Sherlock's POV. He supposes the first person to mention closure to him will lose a limb, and everyone seems to pick up on this.

Sherlock's POV, upon his return, and the first sixteen words he exchanges with John.
Sherlock's POV of the three years of his 'death' and of the aftermath of his return.
scenarios in which J knows/believes S isn't dead but missing
Sherlock left to hunt Moriarty alone while John was still in hospital after the Great Game. John's POV of the next three years.
Sherlock left to hunt Moriarty alone while John was still in hospital after the Great Game. John's POV of the next three years. The third story is Lestrade's POV of Sherlock's return, while the fourth is Sherlock's POV.

Date: 2011-04-14 11:11 am (UTC)Sherlock left everything to John, who then retired to Sussex with Sherlock's beekeeping books.
John is depressed after Sherlock's death and can't bring himself to cope.
John was severely depressed after Sherlock's death.
John is severely depressed after Sherlock's death and takes to drink.
AU with female!John, in which she does try to cope and even acquires another flatmate (which I must say would have helped sustain the fiction that S was dead better than Mycroft continuing to maintain S's half of the flat for sentiment's sake).
S never liked to say the obvious, so he never told John that he loved him
until it was too late.S doesn't understand why J is angry about the faked death.
Sherlock's POV of his time away, including his concerns about Mycroft's ulterior motives in helping him.
Even after S returns, J isn't coping.
