Hi!

I'm in a bit of a funk and have read pretty much all I can read of PWP Sherlock slash. So, I was wondering if anyone who reads this can point me in the direct of some your favorite BBC Sherlock fiction that has some substance. I don't care about the pairing, if there is a pairing or not or even the genre. I just want to read something that isn't a whole story of just sex.

I think you can't possibly go wrong with anything by Blind Author (http://blind-author.livejournal.com/6016.html#cutid1)

The stories often contain sex, but none of them are PWP. They're full of fantastic characterization and emotion, and the long fic are all nice and plotty.

Two of my personal favorites - there is smex, but there's plot, too:

an absolutely amazing fic by pennin-ink - a royalty AU in which John and Sherlock enter into an arranged marriage, don't see each other until they're married, and go through the events of ASiP as newlyweds. She's promised us SEQUELS! I can't wait!

The Penultimate Problem (http://random-nexus.livejournal.com/123221.html)
by random nexus. The story of how Sherlock finds John after a worldwide pandemic. I stalked her mercilessly while she was writing it.

And you can never go wrong with either wordstrings
or kate_lear - awesome long fics with incredible characterization and, yes, smexing.

The Affair of the Asphyxiated Acafan (http://archiveofourown.org/works/106523/chapters/147254) is a wonderfully plotty story with one of the best takes on Sarah I've ever seen (not to mention Sally Donovan and Harry Watson) without sacrificing lovely characterizations of Sherlock and John.

I'll point you to my Sherlock Rec Post of Dooooom (http://iamshadow.dreamwidth.org/327991.html). It's about half a year out of date, but all the stuff on it is good. It's a mix of porn and plot, slash and gen with maybe a smidgen of het in there somewhere. All the stories have a short excerpt that gives you kind of a feel for what the story is like.

A good fic to start on is Baskerville by elapsedspiral. It's an awesome reworking of Hound. Last I checked, the chapters weren't interlinked, but I have them all linked separately on the list anyway.

I'm always looking for good casefic! If you're in the mood for something longer, I'd recommend innie_darling's Bricoleur (http://innie-darling.livejournal.com/168408.html) and sprl1199's Cu Sylvatica (http://sprl1199.livejournal.com/8197.html). They're plotty retellings of two different ACD stories.

And if you don't mind AUs, there's mariana_oconnor's Come and See (http://definewisdom.livejournal.com/36398.html), which does absolutely brilliant things with an unlikely premise.
