2 stories: Hound AU & creepy Professor

1.) The first story I'm searching for is an AU of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'. The premise is that Watson puts the clues together much faster (or at all) than Holmes expected him to. Consequently he gets kidnapped by Stapleton and is held at the same place (near an old tin mine deep in the mire) where Stapleton also keeps the hound. Holmes has to find and save him before Watson is killed. I think a telegram Watson didn't manage to send contained a clue and Sir Henry also helps in the search. The details are rather hazy I'm afraid.

2.) The details for the second story are even more lacking. Watson is visiting an old acquaintance of his, I would like to say in Edinburgh but it wasn't in London in any case. The man is a Professor and might have been one of Watson's teachers at University. For the rest of the story I remember no plot only vague impressions. The Professor's house is very creepy as is the Professor. Somehow blood is involved, or maybe bones (a whole skeleton even?), there's a secret room Watson discovers where the Professor may have murdered and experimented on people. Possibly Watson gets poisoned and almost dies. Not sure how Holmes is involved though he might possibly save the day. The story might have a supernatural component but I'm not sure.

Does anybody recognize either on of these stories? I would be grateful for any hints you can give me.

The second one is "You Buy Bones" and it isn't online anymore, but you can get it at Lulu.com (either pay for a paperback copy or a download.) The book has more than just that story in it -- it includes several other pieces by aragonite (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1460858/aragonite) with a strong focus on Lestrade and early days with Holmes and Watson. (I love her Watson to bits, and her Lestrade and even her OC's, and yes, I bought the book.)
