John helps Sherlock

1. Are there any stories where John uses his military knowledge and helps Sherlock either solve a case, or find a piece of information that Sherlock over looks? Maybe he describes what caliber of bullet or the type of weapon used (after all he is a expert marksman and doctor) or he uses his training to kick some bad guys butt!

2. Are there any stories where John uses his medical knowledge to operate/keep someone alive because the ambulance is taking too long/there is no other doctor around (like on a case/at a crime scene) or something like that?

This is one is loooooooong, more than 70,000 words. And it's so. Awesome. This was one of the first Sherlock fics I read, and until this day, it remains my favourite. John is using his military training to save his and Sherlock's lives a couple of times, and there is even a scene where he performs surgery on Sherlock and it's OMG THIS IS SO EXCITING AND HORRIBLE AND AWESOME AND OMG. Sorry, I just don't have words for how fantastic this story is. Have a look at the summary if you're interested. And it's John/Sherlock.

John is kicking ass in this one all. The damn. Time. Really, some of the things he does are just plain Chuck Norris-like. Again, he is using his fighting and medical skills, this time to save Not-Anthea and himself. There's also a lot of angst in this one, it's just heart-wrenching. Unfortunately, this one is still a WIP, but I promise you won't regret having read this wonderful piece of fic. This one is also John/Sherlock with some Mycroft/Anthea thrown in.

A continuation of TGG. After John woke up in the hospital, he goes on a mission to hunt down Moriarty. John is getting some ugly hits in this, but he's dishing it out like a boss. This one is marked as John/Sherlock, but I guess it could be read as gen (which I didn't).

Okay, so this one focuses more on the relationship of John and Sherlock than on the case. But there is a scene where John's knowledge of morse code pushes the case on considerably. It's an AU where John is actually supposed to marry Mycroft, but it is John/Sherlock.
