Hello, really helpful people! I'm looking for a fic that I read a while ago and can't find again. It's an AU of the Milverton affair (or something similar) which I know there are a lot of, so I hope you guys can help me.

I'm not too clear on the details, I know that Watson worries that Holmes is in over his head (as per usual) but, in this story, it's Watson who goes out and steals the blackmail material. This is all behind Holmes' back. That's all I remember. I couldn't even tell you if it was slash or not.

I hope that wasn't too vague but I've seen you guys work with less so I have high hopes.

katieforsythe has written an AU of Milverton, but just from your description, I don't think it's the one you're looking for. I think you might be looking for Conductor of Light (http://liquidfic.net/conductor.html), which involves Watson using Chinese pottery to try and gather information on Baron Gruner after Holmes is beaten by the Baron's thugs. (The Three Garridebs, The Illustrious Client.)
