i can't quite believe i lost this one..

...but apparently I have. I'm looking for an established relationship fic where either Holmes or Watson (I can't quite remember who, and at first leaned towards Watson, but the more I think about it Holmes presents himself a more probable possibility) has been away for a considerable time (like say, two months?) and they jump each other in the sitting room. They hardly make it up the stairs at all, and shag in the stairwell before Watson's room. I believe they also discuss...theology studies as a euphemism for shagging at some point? mentioning David and...I have no clue who the other guy was. The bible is not exactly my area of expertise. And then Watson mentions that he isn't exactly in favour of one of them going off for such an expanse of time, but that if this is the result he wouldn't be that averse to experiencing it again some time in the future. I think it might've been bookverse, but can't be sure.

I'm trying to remember a bit more, but I hope this will be enough to pin it down? Kind of funny how the larger lines of the story are unclear, but tiny details of conversation seem to stick in my mind. Anyway,

I hope very much someone knows where it's hiding out. Thanks in advance for any help!

EDIT: This story has been found, and in the process has proved I am a complete blithering idiot.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with what you're looking for (since I don't recognize the story myself), but it would probably have been David and Jonathan.

Although, there is a story I've read where Watson is gone for a prolonged period of time and when he returns, he finds that Holmes has tattoo'd his wrist with the letters 'JHW'...your description makes me think of that particular story for some reason...

Oh Lord, you are right. That is so ridiculous, as I was reading Full of Grace when I made this post, but had started on the third part, because I wanted to read the churchyard scene again where Holmes is ranting about Oscar Wilde and the old priest interrupts.

I should have started at the beginning, I see. That was unforgivably stupid of me.
