Canon story search

Hi!

I'm not looking for a fic but for a canon story (sorry if this is not allowed, but I don't know where esle to ask...) It's set after the Hiatus and before the events of "The Three Garridebs." I don't remeber what the case was, but near the end Holmes and Watson are sitting in a restaurant (?) and Watson notices Holmes looking at him with "tenderness" or "affection" or something along those lines (I think it´'s because Watson has just told him that he likes working with him or something like that.)

I think what you're looking for is "The Bruce-Partington Plans", found in His Last Bow. The specific quote is this:

"I knew you would not shrink at the last," said he, and for a moment I saw something in his eyes which was nearer to tenderness than I had ever seen. The next instant he was his masterful, practical self once more."

It's because Watson's agreed to go play burglar with him again. Boys. :P
